I Scream, You Scream, We all Scream for Ice Cream!

Yummy - ice cream is always delicious - especially on these hot summer days.  You have to lick quick before it melts - but worth it.  I worked at a little take out stand on the beach when I was a teenager and we also served ice cream.  They were in 5 gallon tubs in freezers that we had to reach down into to scoop the ice cream.  It was quite a work out as the ice cream could be frozen hard at times.  The more the doors were opened, the softer the ice cream got and it was much easier to scoop.  The owner always let us take a small cone to eat after our shift.  Mint Chocolate Chip was my favorite.  But I look forward to the fall now when the Pumpkin Ice Cream comes out - it is worth the wait.  When I was small, we had an electric ice cream maker which we made good use of.  We experimented with flavors and see who could come up with the best concoction.  My younger son once got one of those balls you roll around to make ice cream - we tried it once but it was alot of work for a small amount of ice cream.  Here in the Mid-West, custard is popular.  It is a creamy version of ice cream - still delicious, but a different consistency.
